THE WOW PROGRAM -WORKING ON WISDOM
- Have a large breakfast, like a king; a medium lunch, like a prince; a small dinner, like a pauper. Have a protein snack at 10 AM, 3PM, and 9PM. Eggs and butter are great sources of protein and do not cause cholesterol buildup up in the body as earlier thought. Plain yogurt will also be an excellent choice along with whole wheat cereals and fresh fruit. Fruit has the natural sugar in it called fructose. The body was meant to metabolize this type of sugar.
- Eat raw fruits and vegetables at every meal. Start the meal with them. Buy foods as fresh as possible, from farmers or markets.
- Increase the quality of protein, chicken is the best, then fish, beef, legumes, nuts and dairy products. Combine vegetable and animal source protein at meals to include all and to enhance each type. Junk meats such as bologna, frankfurters, or salami are not to be consumed.
- Use unsaturated fats. Safflower oil is best, corn oil is fair. Do not use saturated fats such as meat or bacon fat, or margarine. Do not fry foods.
- Herbal teas, apple cider, and especially water are the best for quenching your thirst. All three of these liquids will help keep the body at a neutral pH and not become acidic. No coffees, colas, chocolate or other caffeinated beverages for they will surely cause acidemia in the body.
- Drink purified water, if available. No ice if possible so that the cells that line the esophagus will not be traumatized from the cold temperature. Put lemon slices in your water to neutralize the body from an acid condition.
- Nutritional supplements. All people need supplements to help them in getting the nutrients that have been lost in the foods that they consume. All foods in our diet have lost some of their nutritional value mainly due to present day agricultural and farming techniques that concentrate on quantity and not quality. The minimum requirements are listed below.
- No refined carbohydrates (processed sugar, white starches). There is no place for these excuses for food in human nutrition. They are toxic and poisonous to all people. They are major factors in the causation of most illnesses.
- No smoking. This has long been known to be a disease factor. Carry celery sticks or nuts as substitutes. The whole program of nutrition, exercise and stress reduction will help.
- Alcohol is an unnecessary calorie. Drink none unless in good health and at proper weight, even then only one drink per day.
This program is very simple. Give yourself 10 points for each of the 10 categories above. Of course a perfect score is 100 but I do not know of anyone who is perfect. Just do your best. If you can only accomplish some of the category requirements then give yourself a 5. Or any numerical value that you think is appropriate for you.
