BondingBonding was one of the first techniques developed for "instant" smile enhancement. It is suitable in many circumstances to correct broken, misshapen, or stained teeth, and this spectacular result can be achieved in only one visit to the dentist. Sometimes people are shy about smiling because of misshapen, discolored, broken or cracked teeth. And these problems are quite common results of aging and normal wear and tear, as the secondary dentin layer of your teeth undergoes natural changes. Over time, teeth often shift forward as well, resulting in some crowding or crookedness. Fortunately, all of these situations are quite simple to repair, using a dental procedure called ‘bonding’. Bonding can be used to close spaces between teeth, lengthen or reshape teeth, whiten stained or darkened teeth, cover cracks and fissure lines, and fill in chipped or worn teeth. What’s more, the materials available today allow for precise color matching according to your individual, natural shade. So, in just one appointment, Dr. Oser can reshape and brighten your teeth so that you can’t help but smile. The bonding process typically requires three steps. First, Dr. Oser will discuss your specific objectives and carefully match the bonding material to your natural teeth. Next, he’ll use a mild acid to lightly roughen the surfaces of the recipient teeth, and apply a gel to help the bonding materials hold. Then Dr. Oser simply applies the plastic resin-like bonding material, carefully sculpts it into the desired shape, and hardens or cures it with a high-intensity light. Finally, he’ll finish the job by gently polishing all of the new surfaces. You’ll find that your resulting smile is not only healthier looking,
but stronger as well. And it’s easy to maintain with regular,
consistent daily brushing and flossing, as well as your regular check
ups at our office. As a precaution for your new investment, it’s
wise to avoid dark colored foods and beverages that might stain your
teeth, and refrain from tobacco use as well. |
